Welcome to Winter Basketball Season 2025

Dear Vampire,

Boy, does that roll around quickly!
Tomorrow, our first teams will take to court to commence grading for the 2025 Winter Basketball Season. With all sides having been practicing over the past few weeks, anticipation is high as we look to build on the tremendous success of our inaugural season as the East Brighton Vampires.
A new Club website
I’m delighted to announce that our new Club website vampiresbasketball.com is now live. Featuring some wonderful images of players from last season, the website also details the five values our Club lives by and an updated constitution. You’ll also find links to player registration, weekly fixtures plus a link to ordering Club merchandise (Hoodies? Winter is coming!). Please also refer to this site, particularly the ‘Trouble Shooting Guide’, for answers to our most frequently asked questions.
Notice of AGM
The next annual general meeting of our Club will take place at 8pm, Monday, June 16, 2025, with all members welcome. Several members have already volunteered to stand on the new committee, for which we are extremely grateful. Anyone else who is interested in getting involved in our Club, or who would like to RSVP their attendance at the AGM, should email president@vampiresbasketball.com or secretary@vampiresbasketball.comby Monday, June 9.
U12 Development Squad
The role of the Vampires Committee is, of course, not just to manage the day-to-day business, but also set the Club up for future growth. Over the past few seasons, we have noticed an increasing trend of losing our older, better players—particularly our representative players—to the larger Clubs. As a friendship-based Club, we’ve traditionally never graded, valuing the opportunity for our players to compete alongside their friends above all else. However, with four U12 teams, we saw an opportunity to trial a Development Squad, selected by an independent coach from the MBA. The purpose of this squad is to allow our better players to train, compete and, hopefully, grow together, improving their skills and strengthening our Club for the future. Please join me in wishing the U12 Blood Ballers all the very best in their inaugural season.
Cynthia Terkuile
After many years of service on both the Scalpers and Vampires Committee, most recently as Vice-President, Cynthia Terkuile has announced that she will not be standing again this year. I would like to personally thank Cynthia for the time and effort she has put into our Club, which is certainly so much stronger for her service, and wish her and her family all the best for the future.
Ice creams for summer, burgers for winter
Following the success of our Will’s Batch ice cream vouchers for our Players of the Round for the Summer Season, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve partnered with Grill’d for burger vouchers for the Winter Season. Team managers will begin awarding these vouchers, one per week to the most deserving player, once grading is complete.
So, as ever, plenty going on at our Club. Let the Winter Season begin and remember, friendship comes first!
Go Vampires!
